1961 Greenwich Village Map Wide

For all you New York City and Greenwich Village historians, a unique 1961 Greenwich Village map is now available for purchase.

 

Created by noted cartographer Lawrence Fahey, the map measures 21” x 33” and includes a magnificent cartouche and history of Greenwich Village.

Also a listing of bars, bookshops, churches, art galleries, theaters, etc. A truly remarkable look back at this historic neighborhood in a particular moment of time.

The map is $20 if you can come and pick it up at 14th and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. I can also ship it in a sturdy mailing tube for $35.

The 14th Street Framing Gallery (225 West 14th Street) has a pre-set poster frame special, or you can choose any custom frame and get a 15% discount.

About Tom

Tom Bernardin is an active member of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, and is the founder and president of Save America’s Clocks.

In 1974, Tom worked with Margot Gayle of the Friends of Cast-Iron Architecture to preserve thirty of the original bishop-crook lampposts. He is also the author and publisher of The Ellis Island Immigrant Cookbook.
